POLICE ARREST MAN ON PROBATION VIOLATION WARRANT AFTER TENSE STANDOFF

On October 23, 2025, city police units, including Officer Jeremy Beard and Mptl. Freeman, attempted to serve a warrant at 803 Spruce Loop for Brady Godsey, who had an active probation violation warrant. Upon arrival, Mr. Godsey’s significant other claimed he was not home, despite other officers reporting hearing him inside.
After being informed that Mr. Godsey had recently purchased a firearm, officers grew cautious. When the woman went inside to speak with him, Officer Beard heard her plead, “no please don’t do it,” prompting him to draw his weapon and open the screen door for safety. Mr. Godsey appeared in the hallway but initially refused to comply with commands, reaching for his waistband and turning away, showing only his left side.
Eventually, he complied, walking backward toward the officers, and was taken into custody after revealing he had only a knife. He was transported to the Cumberland County Justice Center without further incident.
