POLICE ARREST REGISTERED SEX OFFENDER FOUND STRANDED AT FAST PACE WITH ANIMALS
On August 14, 2026, Crossville Police Department officers responded to a call at the Fast Pace located on North Main Street regarding a stranded vehicle occupied by two men who had been on the property overnight without gas.
Officer Price made contact with Garry Miller and another individual who identified himself as a caretaker. The occupants stated they had been stuck at the location due to a lack of fuel and funds, and had been living out of the vehicle for approximately a month.
Upon running Miller’s information through central dispatch, officers discovered he is a registered sex offender. Further investigation revealed that Miller had failed to report his vehicle—which was unregistered and being purchased on payment—to the Cumberland County Sex Offender Registry official.
Miller was subsequently arrested by Officer Price.
Vehicle & Animal Handling
-
Vehicle: Because Fast Pace requested the property cleared and the secondary occupant declined to take possession, the truck was towed to Mackie’s for the registered owners to retrieve.
-
Animals: Three dogs and a cat found inside the vehicle were safely transported to the local animal shelter. Officers successfully contacted the owner of the pets, who was currently hospitalized, to notify her of the animals’ status.
