POLICE DISCOVER BLOODIED WOMAN AFTER ATTACK OFF HIGHWAY 70 EAST

BURNETTE ST. RESIDENT FACES DRUG CHARGES AFTER POLICE FOLLOWUP ON TIP

Crossville police responded to a business parking lot off Highway 70 East Saturday for a disturbance. The arrest report states they encountered 31-year-old Kayle Brooke Ellis of Murfreesboro with her upper body covered in blood. A witness told authorities he saw 33-year-old Kyle Allan Sternquist of Murfreesboro on top of the victim in a vehicle hitting her. The citizen opened the car door, pulled the assailant off of the woman and a empty gun holster fell out of the vehicle. The firearm was secured and a check of Sternquist revealed warrants out of Rutherford County as well as felony convictions. He was arrested for aggravated domestic assault, public intoxication, being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a handgun while intoxicated, and resisting arrest. Ellis was also charged with public intoxication.
