POLICE PURSUIT IN CROSSVILLE ENDS IN CRASH AND ARREST
Crossville police responded to the area of Highway 127 North just after 8 p.m. Sunday night after a caller told 911 the driver had allegedly swallowed meth and was under the influence. The suspect, 22-year-old John Christopher Tompkins of Lancing, got on I-40 then off at the Genesis Road exit. He then turned around and went back towards the 317 exit. Tompkins reportedly came into the city reaching speeds up to 100 miles per hour. The chase ended in Centennial Park when Tompkins hit a tree. He was charged with felony reckless endangerment, evading arrest and DUI.
