NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Metro Police have released surveillance video from a fatal downtown shooting that claimed the life of a Los Angeles man who was visiting Nashville with a friend.  The shooting happened on September 25 on 4th Avenue North near the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.  The victim, 30-year-old Teddy Grasset, and a friend, 28-year-old Larry Niehues, were approached by two men who got out of a silver Impala – one from the front passenger seat and the other from the rear passenger side.

Niehues ran toward Korean Veterans Boulevard, while Grasset ran around the Impala in the opposite direction toward Demonbreun Street.  Police said the front passenger fatally shot Grasset without provocation.  The accused killer was wearing a black hoodie and light pants. The other suspect was wearing a white ball cap, a dark short sleeve pullover shirt with what appear to be jeans and black tennis shoes with white soles.  The driver did not get out of the car.  According to detectives, the vehicle had a bluish light near the license plate, in addition to a sunroof and spoiler on the trunk.  Police have released surveillance footage from the shooting in hopes of identifying the suspects.

“I have no doubt that persons in our area have seen this vehicle and likely know who it belongs to,” Commander John Drake said. A reward of $5,000, in addition to Crime Stoppers’ reward of up to $1,000, has been offered for information leading to an arrest in the case.
