POLICE RESPOND TO ACCIDENTAL SHOOTING IN CROSSVILLE

A Crossville man was injured after a shotgun accidentally discharged striking him in the hand. Police were called to a residence at the 600th block of East First Street last night (Sunday, December 10, 2017) where they found Daniel Parsons on the floor suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers noted that Parsons index finger was nearly severed and significant flesh was missing between the index finger and thumb. Police reported bone fragments and flesh throughout the living room and ceiling. The report says Parsons was attempting to clean the shotgun when a live round became stuck in the chamber. Parsons attempted to get the round out when the gun discharged. The pellets struck him, nearly hit a woman in the home and went through a window. A check of nearby residences showed no damage to structures from the shot. Parsons was flown by air medical to UT Medical Center in Knoxville where he was last listed in stable condition.
