POLICE: SMITH ARRESTED AFTER THREATENING OTHERS WITH MACHETE IN CROSSVILLE
A homeless man was recently taken into custody in Crossville after allegedly threating others with a machete. Officers say 32-year-old Joshua Dewayne Smith was in the parking lot of Highland Square Shopping Center arguing with customers outside. Smith fled the scene and was later located in the parking lot of AutoZone where he allegedly brandished the weapon and challenged police. Smith ran away again but a Cumberland County deputy spotted him in a wooded area behind the shopping center and deployed his taser. Smith was arrested for evading arrest, public intoxication, unlawful possession of a weapon and three counts of aggravated assault.
