POSSIBLE DATA BREACH REPORTED AT ARBY’S RESTAURANTS NATIONWIDE

A spokesperson for the Arby’s fast food company said a data breach may have affected more than 355,000 credit and debit cards.

The malware attack on the company was the same as earlier breaches such as those at Target and Home Depot.

The breach occurred some time between October 35 and January 19.

The malware used allows hackers to steal data as cards are swiped at cash registers inside the stores.

Arby’s said the malware was completely eradicated. The company stressed the breach only affected company-owned restaurants, and so cards at franchises would not have experienced the malware.

Arby’s advised customers to keep a close eye on credit and debit card statements for unauthorized activity. Contact your credit card company or banking institution for recommendations on how to stop fraudulent spending.
