POSSIBLY RECORD SETTING NUMBERS AT EARLY VOTING DAY ONE
This year’s election certainly won’t lack for intensity as Jill Davis of the Cumberland County Election Commission said 2101 citizens voted just yesterday.
She said, there are always some in line, with the crowd backed up to the road on occasion and sometimes down the sidewalk. She also said she believes the intensity will continue up until early voting comes to an end.
Davis states this year’s numbers are quite impressive when compared to 2020, where the first day of early voting saw roughly 1600 voters.
She also said this will likely be a record turnout for early voting.
Early voting numbers seem to be largely unaffected by a new law prohibiting voters from wearing or placing campaign material within a 100-foot boundary of the building.
