PRANK DURING GRADUATION AT STONE ELEMENTARY RESULTS IN ARREST
A vandalism at Stone Elementary during the school graduation ceremony Monday resulted in an arrest. The student resource officer was attending when he was approached by the principal regarding his office. Video footage showed the suspect, 18-year-old Sydney Caroline Hughes, come into the building after someone opened a locked door for her at the south entrance. She reportedly had in her possession a blue and white plastic bag with the word “BELK” written upon it. She allegedly went into the principal’s office, opened the drawers of his desk, removed the contents and milk was poured all upon and inside the desk. The jug and the same bag seen on the surveillance footage was left in the office. Hughes later came to the Justice Center with an attorney. She was arrested for felony vandalism.
