PROBATION FOR MAN ORIGINALLY CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED MURDER IN MONROE CO.
A judge in Monroe County has sentenced a man originally charged with attempted second-degree murder to six years on probation with a condition. Court officials say 29-year-old Joseph Wayne Basile must seek mental-health treatment after he pleaded to a lesser charge of aggravated assault. Basile cut a woman’s throat Christmas Day last year at a home on Epperson Road. While he was being held at the Monroe County Jail, Basile gouged his own eye out.
