“PROJECT LIFESAVER” COMING TO ROANE COUNTY TO HELP FIND ADULTS AND CHILDREN WITH COGNITIVE CONDITIONS WHO WANDER OFF

Project Lifesaver is coming to Roane County! The primary mission is to provide timely response to save lives and reduce potential injury to adults and children with cognitive conditions.

The project is a community based, public safety, non-profit organization providing law enforcement, fire departments, emergency medical services and caregivers with a program designed to protect, and when necessary, quickly locate individuals who are prone to life threatening behavior of wandering off, such as those with Alzheimer’s or autism.

Project Lifesaver clients are fitted with a radio frequency transmitter bracelet that is to be worn on the wrist or ankle at all times. Each transmitter emits an individual frequency signal that is unique to the client. If an enrolled client goes missing, the caregiver will notify the Roane County Sheriff’s Department, and a trained emergency team will respond to the wanderer’s area with specialized receivers that will help triangulate the direction of the signal and help locate the client.

The program is based solely on donations (tax deductible) and the sheriff’s office is asking for help to implement Project Lifesaver at no cost to parents or caregivers. To arrange a donation or for more information, contact Sgt Rick Butler at the Roand County Sheriff’s Department by email at [email protected] or Sonya Clawson at [email protected]

Donations can be sent to Roane County Sheriff’s Office, Att: Project Lifesaver, 230 North 3rd Street, Kingston, Tennessee 37763. Also, Sgt Butler or Sonya Clawson is willing to pick up donations.
