Cumberland County is mourning the loss of a prominent attorney. Roger York passed away last night.

York worked very hard to become a lawyer. While teaching at the old Cumberland Elementary School, he would drive three or four times a week at night to Nashville to attend law school.

He went on being one of the most well known attorneys in Cumberland County.

York grew up in the Homestead area. His father operated York Brothers Auto in downtown Crossville where Scarlett’s is located present day.

He also started Peavine Wine and Spirts in Crossville.
