The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) announced a new plan to install another culvert on Dunbar Road in Cumberland County.

TDOT Community Relations Officer Rae Anne Bradley released the following statements:

“The contractor has completed the first box culvert installation as part of the project to construct and install two small drainage structures on Dunbar Road in Cumberland County. The initial installation was more complex than originally anticipated. Because of unforeseen circumstances, the contractor was unable to reopen the roadway until early this morning (Friday, July 23, 2021). The additional work involved and extended time frame has exhausted their available resources.”

Dunbar Road is open as of 3 a.m. this morning and will remain fully open until Monday morning, July 26, 2021.

“As a result, a decision was made last night to postpone the second weekend closure of Dunbar Road between Chacoto Drive and War Eagle Drive originally scheduled for tonight (July 23, 2021) at 9 p.m. through Monday, July 26, 2021 at 6 a.m. central,” said Bradley.

“The contractor plans to reduce Dunbar Road to one lane controlled by a temporary traffic signal on Monday morning, July 26, 2021, to begin work through the week on the second and final box culvert installation. The contractor is now scheduled to conduct the second full weekend closure of Dunbar Road between Chacoto Drive and War Eagle Drive on Friday, July 30, 2021 starting at 9:00 pm through Monday, August 2, 2021 at 6 a.m. central. A detour route will be posted. Final paving activities will take place upon completion of the second box culvert installation.”
