R.S.C.C. TO HOST WEEK-LONG OBSERVANCE NEAR VETERAN’S DAY

From Roane State Community College:
Roane State’s Veterans Services Office will host a week-long observance around Veterans Day this year called “Salute to Service.” Beginning November 10, the office will recognize student veterans across the college and host a variety of events geared toward student veterans and active duty service members.
Sponsored American flags will also be displayed on select campuses during the week, with the main display planned for the front lawn of the Roane County Campus in Harriman. The flags are part of the college’s ongoing Veteran WAVE project. Each of the flags represents a veteran and is displayed for three years before being retired with honors or returned to the sponsor.
The flag displays are scheduled for the week around Veterans Day as well as Memorial Day through the 4th of July. This year, the deadline to sponsor a new flag for inclusion in the Veterans Day display is October 17. New sponsorships received after this date will begin with the next scheduled display in May 2026 for Memorial Day.
