RED CROSS REPORTS ALARMING DROP IN SCHEDULED DONATIONS; LOCAL DONATION OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE
The American Red Cross has issued an urgent call for donors of all blood types and platelets due to an alarming drop in scheduled donations and the potential for summer travel and severe weather to disrupt the supply. To combat this seasonal decline, local donation opportunities have been scheduled throughout June 2026 in Crossville, Pleasant Hill, and Jamestown, Tennessee.
Cumberland
- Crossville – 6/23/2026: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., Crossville First Methodist Church, 69 Neecham Street
- Pleasant Hill – 6/22/2026: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., Pleasant Hill Community, Uplands Village, 86 Church Drive
Fentress
- Jamestown – 6/19/2026: 12 p.m. – 6 p.m., First Baptist Jamestown, 306 E Central Avenue
As an incentive, everyone who comes out to give between June 1 and June 28, 2026, will receive a $15 e-gift card and a chance to win one of two $7,500 gift cards. Eligible donors—generally those who are at least 17 years old (or 16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds, and are in good health—can schedule an appointment using the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting RedCrossBlood.org, calling 1-800-RED CROSS, or using an Alexa Echo device.
Donors are required to bring identification and can speed up the process on the day of their appointment by completing their pre-donation reading and health history questionnaire online via RapidPass®. For those unable to donate blood, the Red Cross is also seeking volunteers to serve as blood donor ambassadors or transportation specialists to help support their lifesaving mission.
