REMAINS OF ROANE COUNTY SOLIDER FOUND IN NORTH KOREA TO BE LAID TO REST IN NATIONAL CEMETERY
A Roane County soldier will be laid to rest after going missing in action during the Korean War. Officials say the remains of U.S. Army Corporal Thomas H. Mullins of Harriman was confirmed by way of DNA testing. Mullins went missing November 2, 1950 while serving with Company L, 3rd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division in the vicinity of Unsan, North Korea during the Korean War. His remains were returned by North Korea in 1993. Mullins will be buried in Bay Pines National Cemetery in St. Petersburg, Florida tomorrow (Thursday, March 29, 2018) at 1:30 p.m eastern time.
