REPORT NAMES I-40 IN TENNESSEE SECOND MOST DANGEROUS HIGHWAY IN NATION
Geotab says based on data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Federal Highway Administration, Tennessee is home to one of the most dangerous highways in the country. The company’s “Most Dangerous Highways in America” report calculated a fatal crash rate for each highway based on the annual number of road fatalities and fatal crashes over ten years, adjusted for the average daily traffic counts. Based on data collected over the past ten years, I-40 is ranked second in the number of crashes and fatalities the last decade. The highway recorded 437 crashes and 517 fatalities. Geotab states I-40 experiences 43 fatal crashes each year. US-1 in Florida has the top spot in all three categories.
