RETIREMENT CELEBRATION HELD FOR FORMER CROSSVILLE FIRE CHIEF MIKE TURNER

A retirement celebration was held this afternoon for now former Crossville Fire Chief Mike Turner.

Here is part of the interview with Turner:

The 66-year-old Turner spent nearly 30 years as fire chief for Crossville and 45 years in the fire service.

He started as a firefighter with the Cumberland County Fire Department in 1975 and worked his way up to chief.

In 1990, he went to Y-12 serving in their fire department.

In 1993, Turner returned to Cumberland County as the new fire chief for the City of Crossville until he announced his recent retirement.

“Old fire chiefs never die, we just fade away,” said Turner.

When asked what his plans were now, Turner said he plans to enjoy a lot of time with his two grandsons, Tennessee and Knox.

Chris South now serves as Turners replacement.
