RHEA COUNTY ASSISTANT FOOTBALL COACH ARRESTED AT HOMECOMING GAME

According to a report by the Herald-News in Rhea County, during Rhea County High School’s homecoming football game against Lakeway Christian at Eagle Stadium, assistant football coach Jon Lovingood was arrested and charged with criminal trespassing and public intoxication on Friday.
Earlier that day, Lovingood had been suspended and explicitly instructed not to return to school property, including the stadium, until a scheduled meeting with school officials the following week.
Despite this, he was found in the visitor’s section of the stadium, allegedly acting disorderly and disruptive, prompting complaints from school administrators. Deputies, including Chief Deputy John Argo and Deputy Whitney Gross, approached Lovingood after reports of his behavior and noted the smell of alcohol on his breath. He appeared unsteady, admitted to consuming alcohol three hours prior, and confirmed taking prescribed Suboxone throughout the day.
After failing field sobriety tests, Lovingood was arrested, booked into Rhea County Jail, and later released on bond.
