RHEA COUNTY SHERIFF ADDRESSES RISE OF VAPING

The Rhea County Sheriff’s Department has seen an uptick in vaping incidents over the past year, and just in this school year along our School Resource Deputies are having to deal with vaping issues in our schools on a daily basis. The vapes are especially dangerous as some of contain 99% THC and as the juveniles are consuming them it is causing them overdose and have other medical issues directly related to the vapes.

A statement from Sheriff Mike Neal reads:

“Dear Rhea County Parents,
As the Sheriff of Rhea County, I want to address a serious issue that is affecting our youth: the increasing prevalence of vaping. It’s crucial that we work together to protect our children and ensure their well-being.
Vaping poses significant health risks, including lung damage, addiction, and even death. It’s essential for parents to be aware of what their children are doing and to monitor their activities closely. Please talk openly with your children about the dangers of vaping and the importance of making healthy choices.
If you suspect that your child may be vaping, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or our school resource officers. We are here to support you and your family.
Together, we can help keep our community safe and healthy.”
