ROAD CONSTRUCTION RESUMES AFTER CHRISTMAS BREAK

Construction projects resumed today (Tuesday, December 26, 2017) following Christmas break in Cumberland and Roane County. Crews continue to work on a truck climbing lane near mile marker 326 on Interstate 40. The right shoulder will be closed for the duration of the project and temporary closures will only be allowed from 7 PM to 6 AM Sundays through Thursdays. The estimated project completion date is June 2018. Work also continues on Peavine Road in Cumberland County from Firetower Road to Westchester/Catoosa Boulevard. Temporary lane closures and traffic stoppages will be needed to set portable barrier rail and other grade work activities. Motorists should be alert for construction personnel and equipment along SR-101 Peavine Road. Estimated project completion date is November 2020. Crews are also installing permanent signs and guardrail on I-40 in Cumberland and Roane County. That will cause traffic backups from time to time in both directions.
