ROANE COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION APPROVES $85 MILLION BUDGET FOR 2021-2022 SCHOOL YEAR
The Roane County Board of Education last night and approved an estimated $85 million dollar budget for the next fiscal year.
Members held off on a proposed $108 million dollar school renovation plan until they can meet with the county commission in a combined session to see if commissioners will back them on it. The proposal calls for a new Roane County High School in Kingston to be built where the current one is now and a new facility at a site to be determined to combine Rockwood and Harriman High School.
The commission voted down a similar plan in 2018 by a vote of 13 to 2.
