ROANE COUNTY CITIZENS MAY GET CHANCE TO VOTE FOR INCREASED TAXES TO FUND SCHOOL BUILDING PROGRAM

Roane County citizens asking for a chance to vote on the board of education’s $68 million building plan may get that opportunity. Three commissioners, Randy Ellis, Junior Henrickson and Greg Ferguson, filed a resolution asking to place the matter on the ballot for the November 6, 2018, election. If the resolution is approved, voters will decide if they want to pay higher taxes, in the form of a wheel tax, to fund a new consolidated high school for Rockwood, Harriman and Roane County High School to be constructed near Roane State Community College in Harriman.
