ROANE COUNTY COMMISSION SETS MONDAY MEETING TO SEAT NEW MEMBERS AND ELECT LEADERSHIP
The Roane County Commission will convene Monday, September 14, at 6 p.m. at the Roane County Courthouse in Kingston for its first regular session following last month’s elections.
Two newly elected commissioners, Mike Kittrell and Chris Ayler, will take their oaths to represent the Harriman district, succeeding outgoing officials. They join 13 returning commissioners on the 15-member body.
A primary order of business includes establishing commission committees for the upcoming fiscal year and electing a chairman and vice chairman. Current Chairman Shannon Hester, who has held the position for multiple years, is eligible for reappointment.
Lawmakers will also review a proposed 10-year lease agreement, featuring an optional 10-year renewal, allowing Planned Pethood to utilize space within the Roane County Animal Shelter for administrative offices.
The meeting is open to the public and will take place on the second floor of the courthouse.
