The Roane County Commission will meet tomorrow tonight (Monday, May 8, 2017) and to possibly take action regarding an offer to purchase the Dollar General store next to the jail for the purpose of expanding the jail. Officials say the county has always been interested in the store property since buying part of it 10 years ago to build the current jail. The asking price is just under 850,000 dollars. The Roane County jail is the only detention facility in the United States that sits directly beside a store with only a wall dividing the two entities. The meeting will start at 7 pm at the courthouse.
