ROANE COUNTY COMMISSION TURNS DOWN ANOTHER REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL FUNDING FOR CHILD ADVOCACY CENTER

The Roane County Commission has turned down a request from the Child Advocacy Center to use money that was not allocated to go toward additional funding for the facility. In the past, as much as $25,000 was earmarked for the center. That funding dropped to $6000 and then dropped to $3000 in the county’s fiscal year budget for 2017-18. The CAC had requested that $10,000 be submitted for approval to the Non-Profit Committee for their recommendation to raise new support for the center. The drastic drop in funding earlier this year was questioned by the CAC staff who then asked the commission for their reconsideration in the matter. The center is located in Loudon County and conducts forensic interviews, medical exams and therapy for children affected by crimes against them. The CAC serves Roane, Loudon, Morgan and Meigs Counties.
