The Roane County Commission is set to meet in a workshop in one week regarding the expansion of the county jail. Recent discussions have centered around the expansion’s pricetag. Eight years ago, the county purchased several tracks of land beside the Kingston Dollar General Store. Additional property has been acquired and commissioners want to discuss the types of buildings that would need to be constructed. The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 17 at 6:30 PM at the Qualls Room at the Kingston Courthouse.
