The following statement this morning is from Roane County Executive Ron Woody regarding COVID-19:

“Today is June 25, 2020. My last update was six days ago.

On the Friday June 19, 2020 update we looked at Roane County’s COVID-19 cases as of Thursday the 18th and today we are comparing data from six (6) days ago as we look at Wednesday, June 24th data. Like the nation and our state, the county’s positive cases continue to grow.

Six (6) days ago we had tested 4,784 people with 32 positive cases, 30 recovered, thus 2 (two) active cases. Today, we report 5,100 tested with 41 confirmed or probable cases. Thirty-three have recovered and eight (8) are active cases. We are fortunate to still report no deaths.

As governments and businesses have reopened, along with more testing, and as our communities are getting more comfortable with the virus, the Nation, State, and Roane County have seen increases in cases. Roane County continues to have relatively low numbers, but we do anticipate the positive cases to continue to grow. Let’s hope and pray we do not have a surge.

One of the biggest fears a community faces is that one individual may become the community spread person. That person who unknowingly is the catalyst of infecting a group. So please, if you are sick or if you have symptoms, call your doctor, stay at home, self-isolate, and everyone practice social distancing and good health hygiene.
