Fire crews in Roane County were active Monday morning. Rockwood firefighters answered a call to the county’s 911 Dispatch Center around 6:30 AM. Someone smelled smoke in a portion of the building. However when crews arrived to check the building, nothing could be found. Midway Elementary School was evacuated for a time after a fire alarm triggered around 8:45 AM. Roane County Fire, along with Hazmat and Sheriff’s Deputies arrived and found a small amount of smoke coming from a maintenance room. The scene was cleared after an hour and no injuries were reported.
