Yesterday, a high-speed chase on Interstate 40 in Roane County ended when a 2025 gray Chevrolet Malibu crashed after reaching speeds over 130 mph. The Tennessee Highway Patrol attempted to stop the vehicle for a traffic violation, but the driver fled, lost control while passing on the left shoulder, and the car rolled multiple times, blocking I-40 eastbound at mile marker 341 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The driver, who had active Georgia warrants for felony narcotics possession and evading arrest, faces charges including felony evading arrest, felony drug possession, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. Authorities found vacuum-sealed bags of suspected marijuana and a loaded Glock 357 pistol in the vehicle.
