ROANE COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD DISCUSSES COMBINING HIGH SCHOOLS
The Roane County Board of Education is tackling a highly controversial subject these days: the possibility of combining high schools. BOE members received a refresher course last weekend on potential construction and consolidation plans for the schools. Lewis Group Architects presented the board with five scenarios last year. The presentation was reviewed during the board’s recent retreat at Roane State. One example presented calls for keeping Midway and Oliver Springs and combining Harriman, Roane County High and Rockwood into one school. No decisions have been made but discussions are expected to pick up as budget time approaches.
