ROANE COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD REDUCES COST OF PROPOSED SUPER HIGH SCHOOL

The Roane County School Board voted last night to reduce the cost of the building program for a new super high school near Roane State Community College in Harriman by $1.25 million. The project, expected to cost more than $60 million, would combine Roane County, Harriman and Rockwood high schools and renovate Midway and Oliver Springs high schools. Roane County voters will decide in November if the school-building project will be funded by a $50 wheel tax. If it’s rejected by voters, the wheel-tax idea will be off the table for future consideration to fund this particular school-building project.
