ROANE COUNTY SCHOOL SYSTEM RECEIVES EIGHT MOBILE A.E.D.’S
Through the use of Title IV federal funds, the Roane County School System purchased eight mobile AED’s to be used by their county athletic teams for home or away games. The Roane County School System is excited about the opportunity to continue to provide a safe game environment for their student athletes, coaches, and fans.
An AED is a lightweight, portable device that delivers an electric shock through the chest to the heart. The shock can potentially stop an irregular heart beat and allow a normal rhythm to resume following sudden cardiac arrest or SCA. SCA occurs when the heart malfunctions and stops beating unexpectedly. If not treated within minutes, it quickly leads to death.
