On Friday night into Saturday morning, a line of severe weather caused a major power outage in Rockwood around 3:00 a.m. when the Rockwood substation lost a main fuse, cutting power to areas east of Gateway Avenue between Tedder Street and Rathburn.

Rockwood Electric crews restored power after about 90 minutes. While Roane County experienced some downed trees and minor outages, it escaped significant damage.

In contrast, severe weather, including tornadoes, devastated Laurel and Pulaski Counties in Kentucky, including Somerset and London, killing at least 20 people with some still missing.
