ROANE SCHOOL BOARD REQUESTS QUOTES FOR NEW BUILDING PLAN

At its recent meeting, the Roane County Board of Education decided to solicit requests for quotes (RFQs) from agencies interested in evaluating a new building plan for the school system. During Monday’s county commission meeting, School Director Russell Jenkins reported that the board had narrowed the list from eight to four companies.
A final decision is expected at the next meeting, with estimated costs ranging from $150,000 to $230,000. The school system has been exploring options to build a new main high school consolidating three existing high schools or constructing a new Roane County High School to combine Rockwood and Harriman.
Due to unfavorable feedback, the planning process has restarted.
