Roane County Authorities have charged a male subject with theft of property after he allegedly stole two cell phones at the county courthouse. A deputy reported that he witnessed 30-year-old Michael William Hale of Rockwood, remove two cell phones from a table inside the courthouse and conceal them in his back pant’s pocket. The deputy had knowledge that the phones belonged to a female subject and not Hale. The owner later stated that she did not give Hale permission to take the items, which she also identified. The incident was recorded on surveillance equipment at the courthouse and Hale was charged with theft under $1000.
