From Roane County Government:

The Middle East Tennessee Tourism Council (METTC) held a regional legislative meeting last week, marking a significant milestone for Roane County. During the event, Rockwood Marina & RV Resort, the newest gem in Roane County tourism, was honored with well-deserved regional recognition.

This achievement is a testament to the commitment and perseverance of the Rockwood community. Former Mayor Brillo Miller’s determination played a crucial role in bringing this project to fruition. His dedication, combined with the efforts of Developer Dan Barnett, helped turn this vision into reality.

Barnett and Blue Ridge Development made a substantial private investment in Roane County, demonstrating their confidence in Roane County’s growth and potential. Additionally, Rockwood secured Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) grant funds, which were matched by contributions from Roane County Government, present and former members of Rockwood City Council, and Rockwood Water, Sewer, and Gas (RWSG). These collective investments and partnerships underscored the power of collaboration in driving community progress.

A key figure in this achievement was City Administrator/Recorder Becky Ruppe, whose exceptional servant leadership helped guide the project to success. Through her efforts and the teamwork of dedicated local leaders, Rockwood Marina & RV Resort stands as a symbol of progress and opportunity for the area.

Also in attendance at the METTC meeting representing Roane County were County Executive Wade Creswell, County Commissioner Ron Berry, Roane Alliance President/CEO Justin Snow, Stacey Wilson, Tourism Director, and Michelle Ray, event planner, further emphasizing the county’s support for this accomplishment. Local leaders continue to demonstrate their commitment to economic development, tourism growth, and community advancement, keeping Roane County a prime destination for both visitors and residents alike. The success of the Rockwood Marina & RV Resort further solidifies Roane County’s reputation as a thriving and forward-thinking community.
