ROCKWOOD OFFICER CLEARED IN SUICIDE SHOOTING INCIDENT

A Rockwood Police Officer has been cleared of any wrong-doing in connection with a shooting which involved a suicide. Police Chief Bill Stinnett says that Officer Rick Thomas was placed on administrative leave after the events of Feb. 7th, where 58-year-old Quentin Swicegood was parked in the Walmart parking lot when he reportedly pointed a gun at approaching officers. The TBI says that Officer Thomas fired one shot which struck the door of Swicegood’s Pontiac Firebird. Afterward, Swicegood turned the gun on himself. The victim had been on watch by his family after making threats to take his own life. Police arrived to attempt to talk to him when the incident occurred.
