The City of Rockwood is preparing to host the Dixie Youth Baseball A and AA State Tournament July 6, 2017. Officials say 32 teams from all across the state will come to Rockwood to play in the tournament. The teams consist of players ranging in age from 4 to 8. As hosts, Rockwood automatically gets to send one team to the tournament in each division of play. Opening ceremonies will take place at 11 a.m. July 6. The tournament is expected to boost revenues for hotels and restaurants in Roane County and surrounding counties.
