On September 11, 2022, at approximately 5:02 am Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a barricaded subject in the Cumberland Cove area. The report was concerning a subject who was believed to have a military background and who had barricaded inside a house and was possibly suicidal. The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and Crossville City Police Department joint S.W.A.T. Team responded to the scene and negotiators attempted to make contact multiple times and were unable to do so. S.W.A.T. Operators then made entry into the house without incident and took the subject into custody and transported him to the Cumberland Medical Center Emergency Room for mental health evaluation. Cumberland County EMS Tactical Team was on standby as well in the event emergency medical services were needed.
