SATURDAY NIGHT’S STORMS IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY CA– USE 15,000 TO LOSE POWER
Saturday night’s severe storms left thousands of people without power across the Upper Cumberland Region. Bobby Randolph with VEC told 1057 News that at the height of the storm, 15,000 customers in Cumberland County lost power. He says there are currently 6500 residents without power. Most of the problems are concentrated in the southern and northern portions of the county with outages scattered throughout. Randolph said that during the storm, the Mayland sub-station went down and that the storms took out several poles along Jim Garrett Road. As a result, Mayland and Cumberland Cove are without power at this time. Randolph says that extra crews are coming in to the area to address the outages and that most repairs will continue for the rest of Sunday and probably into Monday. He said that VEC is working with due diligence to return power to the county and asks for everyone’s patience as power is restored.
