SEARCH CONTINUES FOR POSSIBLE BRIDGE JUMPER IN KINGSTON

BLEDSOE COUNTY MANHUNT ENDS WITH RESIDENT CAPTURING SUSPECT

Kingston fire, police and the rescue squad all converged under the Highway 70 bridge over the Clinch River last night searching for a possible jumper. Kingston Police Chief Jim Washum confirmed the subject was seen leaping off the bridge by a motorists. The woman stopped, looked over the edge and didn’t see anyone in the river. Efforts to retrieve the reported jumper failed after several hours of searching the water last night. A smaller scale search  has been ongoing since daybreak this morning. Chief Washum says if anyone knows of a missing person in the area of Kingston or Roane County to call the Kingston Police Department at (865) 376-2081.
