BRUNSWICK, Ga. (WSMV) – Tennessee Senator Ken Yager (R-Kingston) was arrested in Georgia this week, according to a report from the Glynn County Sheriff’s Office.

Sen. Yager, 77, was booked into the Glynn County Detention Center on Tuesday for charges of DUI, hit-and-run, and failure to stop at a stop sign.

According to the report, Yager posted bond for all of the charges and was released on Wednesday, Dec. 4.

On Dec. 3, at about 5 p.m., Georgia State Troopers began searching for a Ford Edge with a Tennessee license plate, which was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run incident on Jekyll Island. Upon locating the vehicle, EMS was already on the scene evaluating a man who had tripped and fallen.

The man, later identified as Sen. Ken Yager, was the driver of the Ford, according to the Georgia Department of Public Safety. While speaking with Yager, troopers detected an odor of alcohol on his breath and he allegedly admitted to being involved in a crash earlier.

“Mr. Yager agreed to perform a Field Sobriety Test and submit to a breathalyzer,” the Georgia Department of Public Safety said. “As a result, Mr. Yager was arrested and charged with DUI and Hit-and-Run. He was transported to the Glynn County Jail.”

The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.

Yager’s office has yet to respond for comment at the publishing of this article.
