SEVERE STORMS BLAST COVERAGE AREA – DAMAGE REPORTED IN CUMBERLAND, WHITE, FENTRESS AND MORGAN COUNTIES

A line of severe thunderstorms around 2:30 a.m. this morning left a trail of destruction in Cumberland, White, Fentress and Morgan County.

The National Weather Service issues a tornado watch for Cumberland, White, Overton and Fentress counties early this morning until 4 a.m. central. At 2:45 a.m. a tornado warning was issued for central White County, southeastern Putnam County, and northwestern Cumberland County including the northwestern tip of Crossville. The storm line was racing east at 80 miles per hour.

Not even 15 minutes later, the storm line hit Cumberland County and the City of Crossville.

Winds in excess of 80 miles per hour hit leaving numerous trees down and snapping power poles.

As of 4 a.m. central, this is the initial reports of damage in Crossville:

  • Hillcrest Drive – power poles snapped and power lines down.
  • Old Jamestown Highway – power poles snapped and power lines down near Walmart and Dollar Tree.
  • The Co-Op on Elmore Road in Crossville – part of roof tore off.
  • City garage building collapsed, no injuries reported.
  • Livingston Drive has damage reported.
  • Deer Creek subdivision has several trees down.
  • Cook Road – a few trees down in this area.
  • Deer Run RV resort trees on several campers.
  • Tabor Loop – a few trees down.
  • Charleston Plantation Apartments in Crossville – reporting minor damage to a couple of buildings.
  • Part of building collapsed at the corner of Northside Drive and Highway 70 North.
  • Elmore Road between Main Street and West Avenue is closed temporarily.
  • Several reports of trees down on homes in Cumberland County. No reports of injuries so far (as of 4 a.m. central).
  • Subdivision off of Northside Drive close to the 105.7 The Hog station has numerous trees down.
  • Tractor-trailer was blown over at the 317 mile marker. Westbound traffic down to one lane of travel as of 4:15 a.m. central.
  • As of 4 a.m. central, 7500 VEC customers in Cumberland County are out of power, 1300 in Fentress County, 1300 in White County and 300 in Overton County.
  • Pleasant Hill – numerous trees down in this area.
  • Woodlawn Road – trees down in this area

Numerous trees are down in Fentress and Morgan counties from the storms.

White County is reporting numerous trees down in many areas:
