SEWER EXTENSION APPROVED FOR RETAIL AND HOUSING DEVELOPMENT IN CROSSVILLE

The Crossville Chronicle reports that the Crossville City Council approved a sewer mainline extension for a new development at the corner of Genesis Road and Iris Lane, featuring Bubba’s Bodega—a 3,375-square-foot convenience store with a drive-through—alongside two additional retail spaces of 2,500 and 3,750 square feet, each with dedicated parking, and 14 townhomes situated behind them.
The council also greenlit a tourism enhancement grant contract, allocating a $60,000 state grant for installing wayfinding signage in downtown Crossville.
During the meeting, Jesse Isles, Vice President of the West Cumberland Utility District, urged integration with the city’s utility services, noting that their board had voted last month to negotiate a potential merger with the Cumberland Plateau Water Authority (CPWA) while exploring options with Crossville and BonDeCroft Utility District; with 95% of service lines replaced and 2,200 customers, Isles emphasized the need for support amid high costs, expressing preference for Crossville due to concerns over CPWA’s water supply challenges, as it already struggles to meet contractual demands from the city and could face further strain from a merger.
West Cumberland has four and a half years remaining on its water purchase contract with BonDeCroft and planned a Tuesday meeting with CPWA to discuss potential rate reductions. Mayor RJ Crawford and Councilman Mayberry were absent from the proceedings.
