Mark Sanders, a registered sex offender, was arrested on September 9, 2026, at the Crossville Police Department after inadvertently confessing to violating an active temporary order of protection.

Sanders visited the police station to update his registration address. During the conversation with reporting officer Lorenz, Sanders admitted he recently went to a restricted residence on Spiers Way to check the mail, noticing his bedroom light was on. The location is prohibited under an active order of protection barring him from the property.

After Sanders temporarily left the station, the officer secured a warrant for Violation of an Order of Protection from the Cumberland County Judicial Commissioner. Sanders was taken into custody without incident upon returning to the department and transported to the Cumberland County Jail by Officer Farmer.

Authorities also contacted the protected party, who informed police that her car caught fire at the Spiers Way residence the night prior. The resident reported that witnesses observed Sanders outside the home around the time of the incident, prompting an ongoing investigation into potential involvement in the vehicle fire.
