SEX OFFENDER ARRESTED IN ROCKWOOD AFTER HIDING UNDER BED
Rockwood police recently arrested a convicted sex offender.
Officers responded to a camper on the 700 block of Vine Avenue to serve failure to appear in court warrants on 51-year-old David Mitchell Davenport.
A female on site told officers Davenport was hiding under a bed.
Davenport was transported to the Roane County Jail and charged with 2 counts of failure to register as a sex offender and 3 counts of violation of community supervision.
Davenport remains jailed today on bonds totaling $150,000.
He was ordered onto the sex offender registry after his 1998 conviction for rape.
According to the Tennessee Sex Offender database, Davenport has a lengthy criminal history.
He was charged with a violation of the sex offender registration form in 2013 and a violation of the sex offender registry in 2015.
The registry notes other crimes Davenport has been charged with since 1993 including drug offenses, shoplifting, probation violation, and larceny.
