SMITH CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED MURDER IN ROANE COUNTY

An altercation Friday in Roane County led to an attempted murder charge. Deputies responded to a home on Russell Lane where Terry Anison Smith got into an argument with his wife and reportedly grabbed a serrated knife. He apparently chased the victim stating he was going to kill her. Smith then supposedly grabbed her by the arm and started hitting her in the abdomen. The victim was able to get out of the home and into her vehicle and went to an area church to call authorities. She was treated at Roane Medical Center. Smith was taken to the Roane County jail and initially placed under $75,000 bond.
