SMOKY MOUNTAIN WINTERFEST 2019 DELAYED UNTIL LATE NOVEMBER

If you enjoy Smoky Mountain’s Winterfest, you will have to wait a little longer than usual for the event. Officials in Sevier County say that Winterfest will be delayed from the first week of November until later in the month. For the past 29 years, the show, which displays over 15 million  winter lights, has started during the first week of November, but local merchants stated that they wanted to enjoy fall a little longer this year. They say that they have spent thousands on fall decorations and that they would like to have their customers enjoy them longer this year. Tourism leaders say that before, the mixture of fall and winter decorations have been somewhat confusing to viewers, and that it would be better for all to push back turning the lights on. Pigeon Forge will forego a Winterfest kickoff event this year in lieu of a community celebration. Winterfest will run through Valentine’s Day 2020.
